Rachel Kaplan, born in New York City, is the President/Founder of the Paris-based French Chic Shopping. Ms. Kaplan, who has had a life-long passion for French fashion and art de vivre, reported on fashion weeks and fashion designers for Elle International from 1994-2000. She is also the author of Best Buys to French Chic, the first eBook shopping guide to Paris published in 1998.

Born into a family of Francophiles, she was educated at the Lyçée Français de New York. A graduate of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, Ms. Kaplan went on to pursue a career in business journalism and international media and marketing communication for such clients as Lintas Worldwide and the Lagardère Group’s US Division of Hachette Magazines.

She has lived in Paris since 1994, where she wrote and published five books including a series for Harry N. Abrams on four major European capitals, including Little-Known Museums In and Around Paris, London, Berlin and Rome.

Acclaimed by such leading publications as Travel & Leisure, Departures, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, and Town & Country, Ms. Kaplan has also made guest appearances on American, British, and  French television and radio.

French Chic Shopping, backed by a team of multilingual guides and assistants, has hosted families and groups from all over the world including Middle Eastern royalty, U.S. political figures, and Hollywood talent. The company’s corporate and institutional clients have included the Simon Wiesenthal Center of Tolerance, Bates College, Vodaphone, ANT Trust, the Australian Automobile Association, Condé Nast Publications, and Acorn-Stairlifts.
